The exhibition Liminal Space by Kristiina Lähde and Sirpa Suominen explores life transitions, moments of change, and the process of accepting what is inevitable. Rooted in the artists’ personal experiences, the works approach these themes through the perspective of the lived body, imperfection, and gentle acceptance. The exhibition features both individual artworks and collaborative installations, some of which introduce elements of humor—laughter can be one way to process what feels difficult.

Visual artist Kristiina Lähde investigates moments, impressions, and emotional states, often through reduction and abstraction. In addition to painting, she incorporates materials such as textiles—lace, knitted or crocheted elements—and collage. Her works in this exhibition reflect on womanhood and corporeality in the face of aging, contemplating both physical and emotional transformations and how we learn to live with them.

Visual artist Sirpa Suominen works with painting across various materials, often placing the human figure at the center. Her themes include intergenerationality, human interaction, our relationship with ourselves and others, and both adaptation and resistance to change. The works in Liminal Space arise from the artist’s own experiences during a challenging life transition. Painted on aluminum, these pieces explore the emotions stirred by a difficult period, the sense of losing oneself, and the slow, profound act of redefining who one is.
